Improvisations: Jazz Photographs by Herman Leonard

From the Kennedy Museum of Art permanent collection, this exhibition features American photographer Herman Leonard (1923-2010). The 1947 Ohio University graduate is known for his unique images of jazz icons such as Mile Davis, James Moody, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan and Chet Baker.

Honey For The Heart

A selection of puppet heads from the Honey for the Heart annual collaborative project in Athens, Ohio. Sponsored by Ohio University's Learning Community Programs and Arts for Ohio, this project invites Ohio University and Athens community to make larger-than-life puppets from recycled materials. The 2013 artists in residence were Robert Lockheed, Wendy Minor Viny, Patty Mitchell, and Daniel Polnau.

Show off your ideas for making art and new products from used or recycled materials.Our ReUse Competition is about supporting and celebrating the creativity of southeastern Ohio residents in turning waste and discarded materials into new products. Whether you like turning trash into treasure, turning the old into the new, reducing waste, or just like being creative, this competition is for you!The competition is for both youth and adults, as individuals or teams, from throughout Appalachian Ohio's 32 counties.A total of $3,000 in cash prizes will be awarded. The top three entries in each of four categories will earn cash prizes, and a broader selection of entries will be shown at an exhibition to be held along with the awards ceremony on Earth Day, April 22, 2014.Check our Facebook page for more information.
